Our story began 75 years ago on historic Shem Creek where my Great Grandfather first opened the doors to Mt. Pleasant Seafood Company. Some of my mother’s first memories as a child are playing on the docks waiting for the men of our family to return from their day of harvesting. Back then, Mount Pleasant was a quiet shrimping village near the South Carolina coast and home to only 1,500 people. Now, we’re nearing 90,000 and have the great pleasure of serving this community as well as tourists that visit us from around the world.
In fact, the favorite part of our day is getting to know each and every person who walks through our doors. Learning what they like, offering recipes that they should try, and even catering in their backyards or special events with our popular shrimp boils or oyster roasts. We also enjoy seeing familiar faces we know out and around town at our community gatherings like the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market, Mount Pleasant’s recreational sports leagues, or in the pews at church.
As a fourth generation operator, I am excited to see our community continue to thrive and evolve. I am even more excited that our core purpose and company values still ring true today; to provide the best catch on the creek and served with a side of southern hospitality.
